Benedicte Lienard was born in 1965. She studied film direction at L'Institut des Arts de Diffusion in Louvain la Neuve. Before her debut fiction feature Une Part du Ciel in 2001 (released in 2002), she directed several short fiction films, as well as short and feature-length documentaries, and worked as a director's assistant for several prominent film directors, including the Dardenne brothers (Je Pense a Vous). Her work has received numerous awards. Benedicte Lienard lives and works in Brussels, Belgium.
