Wailing

The artist wails and weeps, mourning people and situations either for her inner, personal reasons or at the request of others. She has been taught and trained by professional wailers in Croatia, Serbia, southern Italy, and India, each of them in her own way experiencing the mystery of expressing sadness and pain in the face of death. The poetry of mourning, the transient moment of cognition, the realization of the end and the pain of losing a loved one, are at the core of the performance. It is a moment of searching which we are all bound to experience, but at the same time merely a moment which cannot determine and master our lives. The essential questions touch upon the articulation and discipline of sadness.
