The Future of Death (performance)
The Future of Death project examines human attitudes toward death and dying: on the one hand a “natural phenomenon” that critically determines the human condition, on the other hand a concept imbued with various cultural codes, (religious) beliefs, and social environments. During their workshop the authors together with approximately forty participants explore both personal stories and collective mythologies, while their aesthetically minimalist yet meaningful performance-installation offers us a precious opportunity to confront our own attitudes towards death. They not only reveal the symbiosis between the natural and the social, between intimacy and the public domain, but also pave the way for entirely unexplored interpretations of death.
