Sound Performance

The room and sound become one. As a consequence of the vibrating field in the hall, the colours of the voices of spectators - who speak by chance - become altered and distorted. o.blaat a.k.a. Keiko Uenishi, a master of astonishing sound performances, explores the phenomena of sound, searching for spots in the room where microphony and interferences of sonic waves create most unusual effects. Her movements – a blend of tai-chi and traditional Japanese dance – co-create a universe of modulations. o.blaat experiments with interactions between the acoustics of an auditorium and electronic devices for manipulated and generated sound, including notebook, wii (Nintendo’s remote video game console), an FM transmitter, microphone, loudspeakers, and other props such as various types of shoe. Keiko Uenishi is open-source advocate, activist and a co-founder of SHARE parties and community (, as well as composer who explores auditory perception in sociological and environmental contexts.
